Pan American Airways, PAA, Postal History

Airmail cover posted at Mainz Feb 18, 1941, endorsed Mit Luftpost uber Sud-Amerika indicating this cover was to travel by LATI service to South America, and then by Pan American Airways to the USA.

This service was much more expensive - 2.40 Marks verses .65 Marks for Pan Am's Atlantic Clipper service, and therefore these covers are much scarcer. The more expensive service was used to avoid British Censorship at Bermuda.

This is a very nice example of this service....there are a couple minor tears at top edge, and a horizontal fold which affects the 40pf stamp......o/w.............Fine to Very Fine condition.
